SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED
Our current administration needs to be reminded of what that means.
They want to disarm law abiding citizens based on the actions of the criminals they have been pandering to for the last few years. This needs to stop and we need to start putting the criminals behind bars and let law abiding citizens own what they want.
For 4 years under President Trump, we were energy independent with gas less than $2/gallon and just about everything was affordable.
His first day in office, Biden signed over 50 executive orders destroying everything President Trump did, including stopping the Keystone XL Pipeline which in turn, raised gas prices to an all-time high which in turn, has caused the price of everything else to go up.
We must become energy independent again.
Our southern border is in peril. We MUST build the border bigger and better than ever imagined before.
I want people to come here, but they must do it legally. We cannot allow mass migration to our country. We have to know who the people are that are coming here and why. Asylum seekers MUST come through ports of entry. Anyone caught crossing illegally waive asylum and will be sent back to their country of origin.
Covid was absolutely devastating for our country. I hate that people have died, however, the actions of our government and many private companies who have fired employees for refusing the vaccine is a violation of Constitutional rights.
I will fight to get these workers, including military, rehired. Furthermore, these workers will not be forced to accept the rehire offer, and whether they accept or not, they should receive 100% backpay.
Our current tax system is a joke. In the video on the Home Page, it mentions that, "You pay more taxes than you owe to that thing called I-R-S."
I would propose legislation that would freeze property taxes at age 55, and completely eliminate them once the person reaches retirement and begins drawing social security.
It would also eliminate the death tax entirely. It's hard enough to lose a loved one without being burdened by excessive and unneccesary taxes on the things they leave for you.
Also, once the taxpayer reaches retirement and begins drawing social security, ALL taxes are eliminated. Currently, social security is non-taxable, but it comes with a few restrictions. If someone wants to continue working even after retirement, they are limited on how much they can earn before it begins affecting their social security pay out. Under my plan, once you retirement and begin drawing social security, ALL taxes are eliminated and you should be able to continue working if you want with 100% tax exempt status.
Furthermore, any income over 40 hours needs to be tax free. American citizens are working harder and more than ever before and deserve to keep as much of their income as possible. This would extend to "side hustles" where citizens work to make extra money. For those who work part-time jobs of less than 30 hours a week will be tax exempt.
As a veteran, I have an idea for use of the GI Bill to help veterans. College is not for everyone. I would propose legislation that would allow veterans to use their GI Bill to use in whatever way they want...buy a house, start a business, buy a car, etc.
It's obvious that we have too many people in congress who have been there for way too long. We must advocate for congressional term limits. My choice is no more than 12 years....6 terms in the house or 2 in the senate or any combination of the two. Furthermore, upon announcing candidacy for a higher office, they automatically forfeit their current seat and must wait until the next election cycle to try and reclaim it.
This is a vote that cannot be left up to Congress themselves. This must be a vote of the people, BY THE PEOPLE.
To aide in the above proposal of current members of Congress forfeiting seats upon announcement, there needs to be a cut-off date for members of Congress, state or federal, to enter a race that would give others enough time to decide if they want to run to take their seat.
I am a firm believer that if you CAN work, you should. Now, I know that everyone needs a little help every now and then. So I'm not saying to completely abolish welfare, but it should be more secondary income rather than primary and it should be on a rolling basis...say 6 months at a time and you must go into an office and have drug tests before receiving a physical check. Get rid of pre-loaded debit cards.
Protecting our elections should be a top concern for all members of congress. Instead, they are too busy arguing with each other about which side should and shouldn't be allowed to win elections.
We need to come up with a system that will protect voter integrity that includes limiting mail-in ballots to military personnel stationed abroad. For those who just don't want to get out and vote, then don't.
Also, we need to extend voting times from midnight to midnight to allow everyone the chance to vote. Perhaps even make election day a federal holiday. Everyone should have the opportunity to vote. For someone who works 12 hour shifts, that isn't always easy to do.
All mail-in ballots must be checked no later than a week before the election. No "after hours" counts will be allowed. Ballot harvesting by local committees will be punished by negating all votes by that committee.
If some unforeseen circumstances happen, such as a water line break, that voting location must be shut down immediately and everyone removed and taken to a new location.
There is a lot that can be done for this, these are just a few of my ideas to solve the matter.
And no, prisoners and people in nursing homes should not be allowed to vote...especially if they are suffering from mental illnesses such as Alzheimer's or dementia.
Our children do not need to be indoctrinated with false information.
Parents deserve a say in what their children are being taught. Instead, this administration has labeled concerned parents as domestic terrorists.
Our freedom of speech is under attack more than ever before. While fact check is a good idea, it doesn't work when it's one-sided. Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook has even said that his "fact checkers" are more like opinion checkers who censor things they just don't agree with.
We must protect our freedom of speech. If you don't agree with someone, then just don't read what they say.
While I will agree that it's time to raise the minimum wage, I am not in favor of raising it to $15/hr. My preference would be $9/hr...$10/hr max.
Our debt is out of control and our leadership is doing absolutely nothing to fix it. Instead, they want to continue adding to it. We need a plan to lower our national debt and our deficit. www.usdebtclock.org
So this is something I've thought a lot about from a personal standpoint, but never from a political standpoint.
I recently received a message from a woman who asked me my thoughts on penalties for domestic violence abusers and protection for victims. And it got me to thinking.
So here are my thoughts:
The way our current government, both local and federal, handle domestic violence cases cannot continue. It puts the lives of the victims and their loved ones at risk.
So to handle this, we need to bring back the "Three Strikes and You're Out" rule.
First offense would be no less than 30 days in jail. During that time, the abuser must attend anger management classes and have no contact with the victim whatsoever.
Also, the victim must undergo counseling. Let me add to this that in no way am I blaming the victim. However, when the victim continuously goes back into an abusive relationship, there is only so much law enforcement can do. So getting the victim counseling and giving them time to reassess their life and decide whether or not they want to continue in that relationship is paramount.
If there is a second offense by the abuser, the penalty goes up to one year minimum, again, no contact whatsoever with the victim.
The 3rd offense would be the "You're out" offense. This would result in no less than 10 years without the possibility of early parole.
I apologize for this not being higher on the list.
Governor Ron DeSantis' Parental Rights in Education bill should be nationwide.
Schools are for education ONLY...not a place for "woke" teachers to indoctrinate children to their way of life and personal beliefs.
